On the Starting Blogs

Well here’s my first ever blog and I am a little bit bemused, because I am not sure that this is my kind of thing.

The grumpy old man in me thinks that this is just an extension of me wanting to talk about myself. Then I think that with all the sermons I put together, what more have I to say and who would want to listen? It could be that I writing this blog because it is on an agenda and I have to – there’s a lot of that in life and that’s not entirely bad.

Then I’ve looked at the range of blogs and see people writing whatever comes into their heads. I’ve read people reflecting on other books, films, exhibitions, websites etc. The first of these sounds a bit light and the latter more real but a lot of work! It’s something a lot of connected people do!

Then I finally got somewhere – this is a chance to bring out unfinished but real thoughts and insights – always to be genuine, but not to worry about being too tidy, safe and finished. To think, wonder, imagine, even reflect and pray! Hey steady on!

So as you have journeyed through this little blog, you will see how I have talked myself into this. Most of all this is an exciting exploration for me. As a Christian I believe that this is something of God; because he is Creator and creative – it’s an ongoing thing: So some of the most profound things of God happen from the early and unforeseen connections of experience. I wonder, when Jesus took the stories and daily events from around him and wove them into parables (with stings in the tail and hard to pin down endings), whether He wasn’t blogging, or is that just post-modern waffle?

Anyway, time will tell whether these are just trivial ramblings, which should have remained as a brief comment over a coffee, or something more interesting.
