When the Leeds: 2010 Half Marathon sends an extra 4,000 people past your door, the least you can do is offer them a cup of tea and a biscuit. And that’s exactly what we here at MBC did when scores of spectators gathered on our doorstep to cheer on participants in this year’s event.

From the serious runners who hit the King Lane – Stonegate Road roundabout in just a fraction over twenty minutes to the rag, tag and bob-tail fun runners who reached the same spot an hour and a bit later, MBC not only marked the end of the arduous drag up Stonegate Road but heralded the beginning of a mile or so of relatively easy going.

Admittedly, while it has to be said that our team of volunteers might not have been rushed off their feet, for those who did stop off at our gazebo we were not only able to provide a welcome cuppa but a timely reminder that Moortown Baptist Church is very much a part of the community.
