Karen has come to join the team at MBC as a children’s worker. She was bought up in a Christian family in the North East, met Richard her husband whilst on a Share Jesus Mission and has been involved with Children’s ministry as a volunteer at St Marks Church for the past five years.

Karen is married to Richard and they have three boys, Luke, Joshua and Oliver. They will continue to worship at St Marks in Harrogate whilst joining Karen monthly at MBC.

This role for Karen sees another step on her journey with God thus far. She is hoping to build on experience gained with her working life running Singamajigs (a preschool music group) and coordinating children’s worship and events as a volunteer in St Marks.

Karen has a passion to share her faith with children and young people. To meet with them at their level, equipping them to start their journey of faith at whatever age. To enter into a relationship with God that is real. To bring the bible to life in fresh and creative ways, whilst also allowing children to be inspired by worship that is relevant to them and to help them feel part of their church community.

Karen sees her strength as being able to connect with children, as we are all called to have a childlike faith as we seek to live out Kingdom values in our lives. Relationship building plays a key part within the church for both children and adults alike. Connecting with people where they are and helping them to feel like they belong is key.

Karen hopes to inspire children not to be just good story tellers but to be faith builders, growing in faith and encountering Jesus within their own understanding.

Whilst being a mum, wife and daughter, Karen is seeking to follow the calling that God has given her. As faith and family grow together she is hoping that all of her family will settle and grow from this change, knowing that God has a plan for their lives as a family as well as her own and His hand is leading and guiding in all that they do.
