Following Carols in the Park at Chapel Allerton on Sunday, the young people’s discipleship groups enjoyed good food on Sunday night.

Connections (pictured) opted for a Mexican dinner, while Linx and Spectrum enjoyed a good chilli from Claire & Nick Taylor & the hospitality of Helen Pemberton.

Caitlin was particularly proud of the group participation from Linx and Spectrum in the form of some familiar animals on stage in the park!

Watch this space for details of a new group for years 7 and 8 beginning in the new year.

Connections and Linx 1
The evening of Sunday 17th July was the “end of term” for Connections and Linx in more ways than one. The last meeting before the Summer break, it also marked the last one held in John and Gill Duffy’s house, at least for the immediate future.

The weather was marginal for outdoor events and we spent quite a lot of the evening sheltering under the awnings or gathered around the BBQ for warmth, but could have been a lot worse. In true British tradition we flipped burgers with one eye on the rain clouds and ate them fairly quickly so we could retreat indoors at the first possible opportunity.

The two groups clubbed together to present John and Gill with cards and a lovely present – a visit to Jamie’s Italian restaurant in Leeds which they are much looking forward to.

Thanking the group for their present and reflecting on the last three-and-a-half years John said “It has been an absolute pleasure hosting these groups on a Sunday evening and we have enjoyed watching you grow as Young People.”

It was also time to say ‘goodbye and thank you’ to Alan Jennions who has been co-leading Linx with Cas since it started in October last year. Alan has been a great sport and leader to the group, and their words in his card and gift show how much he will be missed.

Ice Skating & McDonalds

A large group of our Young People went Ice Skating in Millennium Square a couple of weeks back. There are not many photos available of anything approaching “Dancing on Ice” standard, but there may be a good reason for that… Anyway, there is never a shortage of shots of our Young People having a good time and eating McDonalds, so here’s another one!

As the Connections group continues to grow (both in height and age!) we face the prospect of the some of the members looking to drive themselves to Connections over the next few months!
As we continue to work through the Bible in a year we are constantly facing the questions of why the Bible includes what it does, and what this means to our daily lives and the world that we live in.

The Connections and Linx Sunday evening groups had their fun day recently. As well as films, food, fun and frolics at MBC the highlight of the day was Go-Karting in Wakefield. We are told it was “rather competitive” and let’s leave it at that…
