Looking Back

“Looking back” is the name we’ve given to this page on our website that gives you the opportunity to do just that; to look back at some of the people and events that have helped make Moortown Baptist Church what it is today.

From the day in 1954 when a sign went up announcing that a plot of land at the junction of King Lane and Stonegate Road was the proposed site for a Baptist Church right through to the present day, we have a rich archive of photographs that span many if not all the various stages that MBC has passed through.

As weeks go by we’ll keep adding to this page – look out for some wonderful images of the days when “health and safety” was little more than a twinkle in some bureaucrat’s eye and Guides went off to camp in the back of a furniture van; when a huge pipe organ graced the entire sanctuary platform and when our fearless cricket team took on all-comers. If you have any pictures that you would like to share with us please contact John Sherbourne.

We have changed the static photos to a “Photo Wall”. This is much more flexible as it gives you the chance to flip through the album and zoom in on any photo that you want to.
