19th April. The Music Room opens for prayer and there’s a Beacon of hope as our Monday morning cafe goes alfresco

Hi everyone. from next Monday, 19th April, we are reopening the Music Room for private prayer from 10am until 11ish. This will be on a drop-in basis, no need to pre-book. We have capacity for up to 12 people to pray in the Music Room at the same time socially distanced or sitting with people in your bubble. The Beacon Café will also be running at the same time.

However, as the rooms inside church can only be used for worship and prayer this means that Beacon cannot meet in the Sanctuary as usual until after June 21st. Hence, we have going al fresco!
There will be tables and chairs set up outside (the forecast is very good) and volunteers will be serving hot drinks and individually wrapped cakes (please note there will be absolutely no self service).

If people want to take their drinks into the Music Room and pray that’s fine but if we exceed 12 people in there then some people will need to wait outside until someone leaves.

We would also ask that people don’t use the Music Room as a place to shelter and chat as this is not permitted and may of course disturb those that are praying.  Also, once you have finished praying please wipe down the chair and table you have used before leaving.  Antibacterial products and paper towels will be available for this purpose.

Outside at Beacon, people will be allowed to sit in groups of six, or two households but must keep a distance of 2 meters between themselves and other groups. There is no upper limit for people outside as long as they stay in their sixes and don’t mingle with other groups. It is not now compulsory to wear a face covering outdoors, however feel free to wear one if it makes you feel safer.

Unfortunately the book swap will not be available for COVID reasons. However, if you want to bring a book to read either inside as part of your devotional or outside in a quiet space in the sun then that’s fine too.

We would ask that people use their own private toilet facilities before coming, however if the use of the church toilets is necessary then the two cubicles on the office corridor will be available. Please ensure that you clean and sanitize areas you have touched afterwards. There will be antibacterial products and paper towels available in each cubicle for this purpose. The toilets on the main corridor will not be available.

The above events have been approved by the ILT, and the Health and Safety team. A full risk assessment will be carried out for both beforehand.

Can’t wait to see you there! If it works we will do it every week.

God bless!
