For just one more week Waitrose Community Matters scheme is supporting Leeds and Moortown Furniture Store

14 November 2013

Once again the Leeds and Moortown Furniture Store has been chosen to be one of the Meanwood branch of Waitrose three Community Matters charities for the whole of November. The scheme which invites shoppers to support the charity of their choice by dropping a token into one of three boxes results in the nominated charities sharing in a total award of £1,000.

Commenting on the news John Sherbourne, Chair of trustees at the Store said: “This is marvellous news for the Leeds and Moortown Furniture Store as besides the money being of huge benefit, the opportunity the Waitrose Community Matters scheme gives us to raise the charity’s profile and therefore the amount of donated furniture is equally important.”

The Leeds and Moortown Furniture Store was set up here at Moortown Baptist Church in 1986 when a small group of people began to pass on unwanted furniture to people in need. Today the Store operates from a 10,000 sq ft warehouse in Seacroft and each year delivers over 4,500 separate items of furniture.
