Children @ MBC – Autumn term

10 September 2015

christ at centre 2This term some things are staying the same and others are changing…

Moorfun will continue to run on the 2nd Friday of each month, each month following a theme relevant to the time of the year:

moorfun

I would encourage you to invite your friends and family to come and spend some time getting to know each other better whilst exploring and being challenged by stories you may have heard many times.  I was struck this summer by how much I can be challenged by children.  They ask difficult questions, and they also have a different view or impression of the stories we think we know so well.  I want to thank all of you out there who give your time, and prayers to this ministry and I ask you to pray for our eyes to be opened as much as praying for God’s light to shine in the darkness.

Sunday mornings will continue to run with Bubbles 3-5’s, Faith Builders 5-7’s, Excavate 7-9’s and Inters 9-11’s.  This term we are continuing to use The Online Lightlive material from Scripture Union and will be looking at Elisha, John Chapter 3,4 and 5, 2 Kings 18-23 and the Christmas Story.  You may have noticed in the bulletin that we are looking for more volunteers to run the Creche. I feel that this is an important part of the children’s work on a Sunday morning and I just want to let parents know that they may be asked to stay in.  If you would like to volunteer please contact either me or Jan Fennell.

Our after school clubs which take place on a Friday afternoon/evening will continue in the form they took on last term. There are now two groups running:

live wires

Live Wires: for children in Reception-Year 2, and is a space for children to build relationships and learn more about God through sports, craft and baking. It will run this term from 4:30-5:45pm.

impactImpact: For children in Year 3- Year 6, is a space for children to come and explore their own faith and this year we are introducing streams to encourage children in their passions and giftings.  We are hoping to run 4/5 streams  including baking, music (children to bring their own intruments but all welcome), sport (mainly football), drama and possibly dance.  There will also be the obligatory tuck shop!

Rewind to Christmas:  You may be saying “Not Christmas Cas, we’re only in September!”  Well you would be right about the month and all I will say is please start praying now for the hundereds of children who will be coming through our doors!  If you would like to help out please save the dates Monday November 30th and Tuesday December 1st.  If you’re not sure, please keep your eyes open for a short film coming to this screen!

Thank you to everyone for all your prayer support, time given and pieces of paper cut up, for your honesty, creativity and support.  I pray that God would draw close to you this term, through all the impossible times and the high mountain top experiences.  I am finding that it is in the still moments with him that strength will rise, and that strength is not our own, but comes from the Lord of Heaven and Earth.
